Had such a great experience with Layla! Her service was warm and attentive, and their TOV was spot on. I usually order the same thing, but she recommended a different vadai combination for me to try — and it was absolutely amazing! Thank you for making the visit extra special.
It’s my first time trying Vadai as I’m not a fan of Indian food. But decided to give it a shot after seeing long queue during peak hours. Surprisingly it’s nicely deep fried and not oily when u eat it! It’s soft and chewy on the inside too! But do not recommend the chicken skin as it’s very hard even I eat it straight away… need to pop into air fryer to revive it.
✔️✔️✔️✔️👍 Final review of The Original Vadai for the outlet at Tampines Century Square! Headnote: “Vadai” is a South Indian savory snack made from soaked or fermented pulses molded into a doughnut shape and then deep-fried. This traditional Indian crispy snack, vadai, caught my attention. This wonderful snack is fluffy, soft, and fragrant, topped with fresh prawns. Deep-fried! Really crispy! The flavour is so great, with a rich fragrance. If eaten, it goes well with green chili, but not for me. This is a bomb! Other than the popular prawn vadai, there are many different flavours of vadai, such as ikan bilis (anchovies) vadai, vegetable vadai, onion vadai, chili vadai, etc., depending on your preference! Overall, this Indian snack hits the spot every single time whenever I pass their outlet at Century Square. The smell allures even from a few stalls away. Overall, this delightful Indian snack has great taste! The texture of vadai is soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. I loved the prawn vadai since I was a little boy! Each time there is a Pasar Siang or Pasar Malam, I never fail to spot the outlet of “The Original Vadai.” The owner should consider offering a special deal where you can choose any three for a discounted price, so that the business can pick up quickly. Their theme, “NOSTALGIA AT EVERY BITE,” aligns perfectly with this traditional delicacy, which is an all-time Indian favourite snack loved by everyone! Footnote: Additional! Customer focus is important to achieve and gain trust from customers. The service counter should be more effective in dealing with customers, adopting a friendly approach and always smiling to make customers feel comfortable and at ease. Based on the feedback received about this outlet, improvements can be made by being more attentive and friendly, serving customers well, and surely they will come to patronize the outlet. A few examples I can provide include: 1. When a customer ordered 5 vadais for takeaway, they realized they were short one when snacking at home. 2. Staff should avoid using earpieces to listen to music while attending to customers. 3. Vadais come with green chilies, so customers should not be asked if they were given any. Just give! In general, trust from customers is earned! When a customer makes a purchase, you achieve a sale. If that customer returns, you gain their trust. When they recommend your outlet, you've built a brand. If the customer is not very happy, you will lose them, irrespective of the brand you have built. Therefore, management should evaluate all their outlets through reviews and feedback and improve constructively so that the business can propel to great heights. Happy New Year to “The Original Vadai” and their staff! May this coming year be your best ever for food business and prosperity. Chris 29 Dec 2025
