Love the duck here, especially the braised duck. Also the char Siew here is really very good. The duck is really soft and flavorful or the other condiment around it. The tofu, the vegetables are very tasty including the chili also very outstanding price reasonable
Had the roast duck and roast pork combo ($7). Duck meat was moist and flavorful, siu yuk less fatty than usual (which is nice), however would have preferred a little umami sweetness rather than all savory in the seasonings and sauce. Will try to come back again for their braised duck, which seems to be the main dish here. 10min away by car, at Marine Parade promenade.
It’s a normal duck rice stall. The taste is decent and the portions are standard. Nothing very special, but still a simple and filling meal if you’re around the area. A plus point is the vinegar chilli, which adds a nice tangy kick.
Went on a Sunday 1pm. Long queue. Ordered braised duck rice for $5 and added tau kwa for 70 cents. They ran out of yam rice, so flavour felt lacking. Duck meat was a bit tough. Good portion. Soup a bit herbally.
I came on a Sunday, a little before 12pm. The queue was really long, with several customers ordering takeaways for many pax, so it took me almost 30min to get my food. I got a plate of braised duck rice ($5) and added on duck liver ($0.70). Portion appeared small initially but towards the end of my meal I know I underestimated it. The duck was tender, chewy and not dry at all, unlike most other braised duck stalls I patronised. This was a surprising discovery to me as I never knew braised duck could be this tender. There are two types of chilli provided. I took the darker red kind. It had a spicy kick, but was really fragrant. Enjoyed it. Soup is also not overly salty or msg loaded. Tasted a little herbal, much to my liking. Almost couldn't finish the duck liver because it was a generous portion and I'm not the most avid intestines/liver fan. All in all, I can see why there is a constant queue at this stall, as Kun Ji serves one of the best braised duck rice at a reasonable pricing in Singapore. Both auntie and uncle stall owners are nice and even tempered despite facing the crowd of customers and nonstop orders coming in. Really appreciate these hawkers for their hard work.
