HK-style pastries lovers, this one’s for you! Selling a wide variety of pastries and breads freshly made daily. The different varieties of bolo buns have a crumbly crust with generous filling. Their mochi bread is good too! Their tarts have a flaky crust on the outside. HK-style egg tart’s eggy filling is just right and the yam tart has a smooth and creamy filling.
pretty impressive range of affordable HK-style buns and pastries here ! I had their yam mochi and black sesame mochi. Both had the perfect balance of pillowy bread & chewy mochi filling, but the Yam Mochi definitely stood out for its softer bread texture & strong natural flavour. Also tried their golden char siew bolo bun, traditional roasted bun and char siew su. All 3 pastries were stuffed with savoury char siew, with the first being in a soft sweet bun, & the latter two being wrapped in a flaky and crispy crust. Their yam tart and sweet potato egg tarts were rich and buttery, with lightly sweet fillings that did not taste artificial. Macau Portugese Egg Tart and HK egg tarts were equally well executed with silky filling and a well-baked tart base. Maybe skip on their chocolate lava unless you’re a hardcore chocolate fan. Taste wise was alright, but I was hoping for a gooey chocolate center given its name. Their Hokkaido custard bun was really soft, though I did wish there was a little more custard filling. They also sell curry fish balls, and while the potato chunks added texture, the curry fish balls didn’t stand out as much next to their pastries :”) Overall, friendly staff and reasonably priced breads. Will be back for their other pastries !
They not only specialise in bolo buns but also mochi bread, yam and black sesame flavours which exceeded my expectations of a regular bakery! 𝘽𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙘𝙝𝙞 ($1.90) - Black sesame paste was satisfyingly dense with a prominent nuttiness, my fav 💗 - Mochi was very chewy soft which I prefer to the liquidy kind. 𝙔𝙖𝙢 𝙢𝙤𝙘𝙝𝙞 ($1.90) - Yam was quite natural and smooth, I loved it! 𝘼𝙯𝙪𝙠𝙞 𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙤𝙘𝙝𝙞 ($2.40) - Chunky sweet paste with red bean skins as well, slight bitterness combined well with the mochi. 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧 𝙨𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝙗𝙪𝙣 ($2.30) - Enjoyed the crunchy crust on top that's not oily nor too sweet 🍞 - Sweet-salty marinade wasn’t too sticky, though I’d prefer the meat to be in chunks instead of minced. 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝙗𝙪𝙣 ($2) - Potatoes were spicy with hints of sweetness, even had aromatic curry leaves! 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙖 ($2.50) - Generous flowy cream cheese was light and milky. - Could do with less bread dough. 𝘾𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙖 ($1.90) - Leaned towards the sweet side like milk chocolate 🍫 𝙔𝙖𝙢 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 ($2) - Same filling as the bun, its fragrance stood out more with fewer components here 😋 - Surprised to find a layer of egg custard at the bottom! - Pastry was so crispy yet not greasy. 𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙜𝙜 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 ($2) - Puree was thick and quite sweet, had a stronger earthiness than the yam. 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙪 𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙚𝙜𝙜 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 ($1.90) - Custard was smooth though it could’ve a stronger egginess 🍳 𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤 ($2.30) - Filling was similar to the tart, bread was fluffy soft with a slight chew! 𝙆𝙖𝙮𝙖 𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙤𝙣𝙜-𝙨𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝙗𝙪𝙣 ($) - Spread on the spot in freshly made bun, with the option of butter too 🧈 - Auntie gave a liberal amount of creamy kaya and peanut butter that melted within! 𝙆𝙖𝙮𝙖 𝙥𝙪𝙛𝙛 ($1.90) - Kaya was rich and more paste-like though pastry was a bit dry. Instagram: @iloafbready
Buy 5 free 1 tart. Yam egg tart not bad. Sweet potato is a bit sweet. Char siew sou can be more fragrant but overall not bad. Slightly pricey for tarts.
Sharing my Instagram reviews here so everyone who reads this can see my reviews too! Hopefully it helps :) MUST TRY THEIR BLACK SESAME MOCHI BUN❤️🔥 and love that they have yam & sweet potato egg tarts which are so unique ✨ …
Taro tarts full of taro which is not too sweet. Pastry is crispy after putiing in the fridge for one night. Egg tart is really nice too. Price is reasonable, very value for money. Will buy again.
Best value for yam tart. Only $2 and the crust is like croissant-style. Yam is not too sweet. Well balanced! Also has many other old school pastries like wife cake, etc.
Bought Portuguese egg tarts and taro tarts. Crust has a great texture that is crispy and flaky and some butter fragrance. Egg custard is nice, not too sweet. …
Tried 3 items. For their speciality bolo bun, I had Original as a benchmark test. Cookie crust is crisp without reheating, bread crumb is feather-soft and mild milk fragrance. Both cookie crust and bread is less sweet than most bolo, so it …
Great selection of bread, pastries and tarts at this bakery. Black sesame mochi was so satisfying as it was PACKED with so much paste. Loved the curry bolo and yam egg tart too 🤍 The bakes here are not too sweet as well. …
