Hainanese-style satay at East Coast Lagoon Food Village with pork and chicken skewers.
Chuan Kee Satay at East Coast Lagoon Food Village specialises in Hainanese-style satay, grilling skewers of marinated pork and chicken over charcoal with the kind of precision and patience that this traditional dish demands. The Hainanese approach to satay distinguishes itself with a marinade that leans heavily on turmeric and ginger, producing a lighter, more aromatic flavour profile compared to the Malay-style satay. The satay is served with a pineapple-infused peanut sauce that adds a fruity brightness to the dip, alongside the traditional accompaniments of ketupat, cucumber, and onion. The careful control of the charcoal fire ensures that each skewer is cooked through without being charred beyond recognition. The East Coast Lagoon Food Village location provides a seaside dining experience that pairs beautifully with the smoky, fragrant satay, making Chuan Kee a popular stop for families and groups enjoying a day out along the East Coast. The food village's breezy, open-air setting and proximity to the beach and park create a relaxed atmosphere where lingering over a plate of satay feels entirely natural. Chuan Kee caters to those who appreciate the subtleties of Hainanese satay and the communal pleasure of sharing skewers with friends and family. The stall's presence in this beloved food village adds to the rich tapestry of dining options along the coast. Find Chuan Kee Satay at 1200 East Coast Parkway, #01-10, East Coast Lagoon Food Village, Singapore 468963. The wait is long while the taste and quality of the satay and sauce is very average. Better options available elsewhere.

Seller aunty looked at me and said "10 10?" To acknowledge my order of 10 chicken and 10 pork satay while she was packing, but handed me a bag of only 15 pieces. Feel very cheated.

One of the better pork satay with pineapple peanut sauce. Price is very reasonable at 60c per stick grilled-to-order. Smoke and charcoal fragrance from this Hainanese style satay.

One of my favorite satays in Singapore! They add pineapple into their peanut sauce to give it an extra omph! Would have given it 5 stars if not for the long waiting time. Go during non-peak hours.

I can't really say that this was worth the wait - as other have noted, the lady boss has her own queue system. It was a bit odd to see people receive their food before me when I had ordered ahead of them .. …
