Geylang Serai's beloved $1 chapati stall, run by a mother-son team on a tawa.
S Safiudin Muhabbat Setia Hati is a cherished chapati stall at Geylang Serai Market, where a mother-son team grills each chapati by hand on a tawa flat griddle. The chapati sells for just $1 a piece — an extraordinary value that has earned the stall a devoted following and even media attention from Yahoo Lifestyle. The bread is soft, slightly charred, and puffs up beautifully on the hot griddle, best torn and dipped in the accompanying dal and curry. The stall also serves murtabak and other Indian Muslim staples, but the chapati is the star. Diners appreciate the personal touch — watching the chapati being rolled and cooked fresh is part of the experience. Even professional chefs have praised the quality and value of this humble stall. Do not miss the $1 chapati at Geylang Serai. It is simple, soulful cooking that proves the best things come small and affordable.Based on 8 Google reviews

Polite, friendly and sincere service from the 2 gentlemen. The chapatis were fresh, soft and delicious. My family loved the keema and dhal gravy…it had a nice, charred aroma and taste. Worth waiting in the queue for!

Chapattis are freshly made to order and curry cooked with passion! Hence, gotta be patient with the queue (easily 15-20 mins). Be there early to avoid missing out on the Keema curry, which sells out fast.

Freshly made chapati here. It looks so good. There was a queue but it moved very fast. Got takeaway for myself 3 chapati with keema for $8. Based of the last review, the same things were $6.50. Nonetheless, cost of goods have gone up. Chapatis were good and right amount of thickness. Keema was just nice.
