Lim Hai Sheng Carrot Cake is a hawker stall at Pasar 216 Bedok Central that serves the traditional Singaporean fried carrot cake. The stall offers both white and black versions, where cubes of steamed radish cake are wok-fried with eggs, chye poh preserved radish, and seasonings. The white version highlights the natural sweetness of the radish cake with a slightly crispy egg crust, while the black version adds a sweet dark sauce for a richer, stickier finish. Each plate is fried to order, ensuring the carrot cake pieces have a mix of crispy edges and soft, yielding centres. The stall also offers a yuen yeung version with both sauces for those who want the best of both worlds. Lim Hai Sheng Carrot Cake is a reliable, no-frills option for a satisfying plate of fried carrot cake in the Bedok heartlands. Tried the mixed (black and white) carrot cake. I actually preferred the black one. It’s sweet and also savoury. Not too soggy too. The white one seems to be a bit bland if you don’t eat it with chilli. So for me black>white. Hehe.
