Famous for its uniquely thick QQ noodles and notoriously fiery chilli sauce, a must-try wanton mee at Dunman Food Centre.
Dunman Road Char Siew Wanton Mee started as Eng's Wantan Noodle before the original partners went their separate ways, with one establishing the popular Eng's Char Siew Wan Ton Mee at Tanjong Katong and the other continuing at the original Dunman Food Centre unit. What sets this stall apart is its uniquely thick, springy QQ noodles that are incredibly addictive, a texture you will not find at most wanton mee stalls. But the real draw is the chilli sauce, served on the side of the plate rather than mixed in, which allows you to control the heat that is notoriously fiery and packs a punch that builds with every bite. The sauce is light yet flavourful, ensuring the noodles remain enjoyable rather than heavy, while the char siew, though average, is offset by well-seasoned wantons with substantial filling. A secret hack that regulars know: ask for crispy pork lard, an off-menu item that adds a pleasant crunch and umami to each bite. The broth is comforting and flavourful without relying on MSG, completing a bowl that has earned a devoted following despite, or perhaps because of, that chilli. Brave the chilli at Dunman Road Char Siew Wanton Mee for wanton mee that delivers a serious kick. It is bold, it is springy and it is not for the faint-hearted.Based on 261 Google reviews
